A flood of candidates qualified Wednesday to run for Louisiana's 5th Congressional District race, the only open seat in the state after incumbent Republican U.S. Rep. Ralph Abraham announced he won't run for a fourth term.
The following qualified on opening day: Sandra "Candy" Christophe, D-Alexandria; Lance Harris, R-Alexandria; "Matt" Hasty, R-Pineville; Martin Lemelle Jr., D-Ruston; Luke J. Letlow, R-Start, and Scotty Robinson, R-Monroe.
Louisiana’s 5th Congressional District is the largest row crop district in the country.
