Louisiana farmers are helping fill the need for fresh food at local food banks. It is part of the federal coronavirus stimulus package to streamline the supply chain, get food to families in need and help farmers whose crops were going to waste.
Louisiana Agriculture Commissioner Mike Strain, DVM, said food banks, farmers and families are all benefiting from having a direct connection. He said it's a change born out of the COVID-19 crisis that could stick around well past the pandemic.
