During his April 16 news conference, Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards asked for prayers for Louisiana Farm Bureau President Ronnie Anderson. Anderson, 71, is currently in the hospital recovering from COVID 19.

According to family, Anderson is on a ventilator in the Intensive Care Unit and undergoing physical therapy after nearly one month of treatment.

Governor Edwards reported that there have been at least 22,532 confirmed cases of Novel Coronavirus in Louisiana with 1,914 in the hospital, including Anderson.

“He is one of those people that are represented by the numbers that we always talk about,” Edwards said. “But those numbers all refer to individuals.”

Governor Edwards also thanked the Louisiana Farm Bureau Insurance companies for making a $500,000 donation to Feeding Louisiana, which helps provide resources to the five food banks in the state.
