Bing And Myisha Turner’s Ongoing Fight To Address Food Insecurity In The Black Community

D. Bing Turner, MPH and proud Morehouse College alumni and Myisha Turner have continued to relentlessly answer the call to action to help address food injustice in communities where access to healthy food options and health issues are overlooked through their Southern California farmer's markets – and most recently — Bernice’s Grocery Store, the first installment of a collection of markets in predominantly Black, low-income, and rural communities across the country.

Bernice’s Grocery Store, affectionately named after Myisha’s maternal grandmother is the first of a series of four collective markets. Bernice’s will be opened in Cotton Valley, Louisiana — a densely populated rural town of just over 900 residents of which over 70% are Black.
