Chick Placements Up 14 Percent from Last Year

Broiler-type chicks placed for meat production in Louisiana were 3.42 million during the week ending May 4, 2019. Placements were up 14 percent from the comparable week in 2018 and up 6 percent from the previous week. Louisiana hatcheries set 3.82 million broiler-type eggs during the week ending May 4 2019, up 10 percent from the same period last year and up 6 percent from the previous week.
