Corps Will Open Morganza Spillway June 2

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will open the Morganza Spillway on June 2 as expected, the corps announced Monday in a press release. Current forecasts show the river would top the spillway at Red River Landing in Point Coupee Parish on June 5 if the corps doesn't open the spillway. If it were allowed to be overtopped, the spillway would likely fail.
