Changes in 2020 for Rice Crop Insurance
According to USA Rice Farmers Crop Insurance Committee Chairman Daniel Berglund, effective November 30, 2019, both Alternate Wetting-Drying (AWD) and Furrow irrigation practices will be officially covered by crop insurance effective Crop Year 2020 and succeeding years. The Federal Crop Insurance Corporation (FCIC) revised the Rice Crop Provisions to allow for new irrigation methods to implement the changes contained in the 2018 Farm Bill.
Additionally, FCIC changed cancellation and termination dates for rice crop insurance in Illinois and Missouri to align with other insured crops.
