A Group is Bringing Back Brown Cotton to Acadiana
By Eric Zernich, KATC-TV 3, Lafayette
Acadian Brown Cotton has partnered with the University of Louisiana at Lafayette to start growing brown cotton to build up a seed bank. For the past few years the group has begun to maintain a little more than an acre of brown cotton in Ardaundville. Jerry Hale, a member of Acadian Brown Cotton, says they "believe this seed came up through South America and we believe it was the first seed, cotton seed, in Louisiana or North America."
