Strain Cautions Duck Hunters Roseau Cane Scale Quarantine Still in Effect
BATON ROUGE – Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry Commissioner Mike Strain, D.V.M., said as duck hunting season approaches, a quarantine for Roseau cane scale remains in effect. The scale, native to China and Japan, is an insect that destroys Roseau cane which is vegetation that helps protect Louisiana’s coast and poses a threat to the health and welfare of Louisiana’s wetlands. It also poses a threat to sorghum, sugarcane and rice industries.
