The Louisiana Crawfish industry is looking good right now, according to crawfish producer David Savoy from Acadia Parish.

"The (Louisiana) crawfish industry is actually strong and probably getting stronger, especially on the farmer's end of the deal," said Savoy.

"There are more acres being put into production. Dollar-wise it's a little tough but more people are getting into it because of the uncertainty in your regular farm crops."

Savoy says farming crawfish has turned into a "mortgage maker" for a lot of farms in Louisiana.

But it's not an easy job.

"It's a lot of work for a long time.  And like with most farmers you're in it for six to eight months before you see a dime.  And that's the norm, that's not unusual.  It comes with the territory," Savoy pointed out.
