Forestry Best Management Practices Workshop/Field Tour Set for August 10th in Cullen

RUSTON – A free Forestry Best Management Practices Workshop/Field Tour is set for August 10, 2018, at the Springhill Country Club in Cullen, Louisiana, to promote sound forestry practices to help forestry operations comply with state and federal regulations to protect water quality.  This workshop is hosted by Springhill Land and Timber; USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service; and Trailblazer RC&D.

Featured topics include best management practices to minimize water quality impacts at stream crossings, Streamside Management Zones (SMZs), water bars, and road crossings.  A field tour is included demonstrate best management practices.  In cooperation with the Louisiana Forestry Association, six CLE credits will be awarded for participating in the workshop and field tour.  These credits will help foresters and loggers maintain active master logger status.

The workshop begins at 9 a.m. on Friday, August 10, at the Springhill Country Club, 26746 Highway 371, Cullen, Louisiana, and concludes at 3 p.m.  Lunch will be served.
