Louisiana Rice Planting is on Schedule; Corn Lags Behind
Louisiana farmers have gotten a few breaks from the rain, allowing some planting to be done. The latest Louisiana Crop Progress and Condition Report shows that 18 percent of the rice crop is now in the ground, which is about where we were last year at this time. But corn planting is running well behind last year’s pace, with only 8 percent planted versus 31 percent at this time last year.
