Lanaux, a sugarcane grower in St. John The Baptist Parish, had farmed for more than 70 years and remained active in the daily operations of his farm until shortly before his death at the age of 92.

When "Mr. Pete" began his career in farming, much of the field work was done either by hand or with the help of mules.  Today his operation uses state-of-the-art planting and harvesting equipment, satellite technology and tablet computers.

"Mr. Pete" will be inducted posthumously in the 5th Louisiana Agriculture Hall of Distinction Class along with Margie Jenkins, 96, a nationally recognized expert on cultivating and landscaping plants on March 22nd.
