Strain Urges Caution with Dicamba Applications

During his report on the Voice of Louisiana Agriculture Radio Network, Louisiana Commissioner of Agriculture and Forestry Dr. Mike Strain urged Louisiana producers to be extra careful when applying chemistries such as Dicamba herbicide to their crops.

The  Arkansas Plant Board voted Friday to ban Dicamba products because there has been a lot of improper use of that herbicide.

“I’m urging farmers who use these products to please be careful and use them properly especially when using Dicamba,” Strain said. “The main thing is to do it properly. If the wind is too high don’t use it.  Make sure you have your nozzle set properly and be careful especially watching for drifts of these different products.  Do your job but do it right.”
