State Ag Leaders Praise Confirmation of Secretary Perdue
The National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) today congratulates Sonny Perdue upon his confirmation as the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture by the United States Senate.
NASDA President and Louisiana Commissioner of Agriculture & Forestry Dr. Mike Strain noted NASDA’s enthusiasm to begin working in partnership with Secretary Perdue.
“Secretary Perdue takes over during a time of not only great challenge, but of ample opportunity for American agriculture. The next Farm Bill, expanding export opportunities for U.S. producers, and fostering a regulatory environment that allows agriculture to thrive are key priorities for NASDA on which we look forward to partnering with Secretary Perdue,” said Commissioner Strain. “Most importantly, we will work cooperatively, as state and federal partners, to advance the success of farmers and ranchers who feed families in the U.S. and beyond.”
NASDA is a nonpartisan, nonprofit association which represents the elected and appointed commissioners, secretaries, and directors of the departments of agriculture in all fifty states and four U.S. territories. NASDA grows and enhances agriculture by forging partnerships and creating consensus to achieve sound policy outcomes between state departments of agriculture, the federal government, and stakeholders.
