LSU AgCenter Extension Service Wheat Specialist Dr. Boyd Padgett, who also serves as Director of the Dean Lee Research Station just south of Alexandria, says the support of the Louisiana Soybean and Grain Research and Promotion Board is vital to his work.

“I can honestly say there is no way I could do the research I do if it wasn’t for the soybean and grain board,” said Padgett. “Our mission is to serve these growers and provide them with answers to real-world problems so they can make a profit, they can raise a good crop, raise their families and feed the world and clothe the world.”

Padget also points out the soybean grain research and promotion board is critical to the LSU Agcengter in order to get their research conducted and questions answered.

And with money getting tighter and tighter the check-off dollars have to be used the bet way possible.

“You’ve got to be a good steward of what you’ve got and we need to be held accountable for what we’re doing as well.  And if we’re not answering questions then we’re not being good stewards of what we have,” Padgett said.
