Commodity Classic: Molino Hits the Trade Show
Story by Don Molino
Louisiana farmers and ranchers gathered with their counter parts from all over the world Wednesday at the New Orleans Convention Center to kick off the 2016 Commodity Classic, which runs through Saturday.
The gigantic trade show area was filled from one end to the other with the latest in farm equipment and tools for growing a productive and profitable crop in 2016.
Keith Porter, US Seed Agronomy Leader for Dow Agro Sciences, announced a new precision agronomy program with John Deere, focused on grower areas in a way that builds trust relationships with growers and agronomists. Porter told me the program supports and develops the knowledge to get the right portion of the right seed on the right acres to maximize the return for growers.

Just a few stops down the trade show floor, Miriam Paris, Xtend Systems Launch Lead for Monsanto, said the Roundup Ready Xtend Crop System is Monsanto's newest platform which includes Bollgard 2 and Xtend Flex Cotton, launched in 2015. And she told me Roundup Ready 2 Xtend Soybeans was commercialized just last month and as well as being accepted by China about the same time. (The use of Dicamba over the top of these crops has yet to be approved by the Environmental Protection Agency.)
