Commodity Funding Vital to Ag Research in Louisiana

by Don Molino

The Louisiana Soybean and Grain Research and Promotion Board met recently for their annual meeting to find out how the research the board is funding is going across the state.

Dr. Rogers Leonard, Associate Vice-President of the LSU AgCenter says during the two day meeting on the LSU campus, the board reviewed all the research conducted by the LSU AgCenter faculty and staff during the previous year.

“This is an opportunity for the board to get a firsthand look at the work that’s being done,” said Leonard. “And It’s also being reviewed for the potential to be funded for the next year, in 2017.”

“This funding is so critical to support the LSU AgCenter faculty and scientists,” says Leonard, “that we couldn’t get this work done today without the support of the commodity boards.  This particular commodity board (The Louisiana Soybean and Grain Research and Promotion Board) has given us a tremendous amount of support across the state in all disciplines.”
