Walking through Mardi Gras World, I didn’t expect to find a connection to agriculture. I was there to learn how the Mardi Gras parade floats are designed and built. As it turns out, some of the designs include agriculture themes. Many of the floats are pulled by tractors instead of horses or mules.

Louisiana Farm Bureau Asks EPA to Issue Existing Stocks Use Rule for OTT Dicamba

Earlier this month, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals made the decision to vacate the label for over-the-top (OTT) use of dicamba, which will negatively impact Louisiana soybean and cotton producers.

In response to the court’s decision, Louisiana Farm Bureau President Jim Harper wrote a letter to EPA Administrator Michael Regan, emphasizing the consequences this ruling and requesting the enactment of the Existing Stocks Use Rule for OOT dicamba.

The Grant Program, administered by the Delta Agriculture Research & Sustainability District (DARSD), will provide funding to individuals and small businesses to support food growing efforts throughout the district. As a poor, rural area access to healthy food is a major obstacle for many residents in the region. By providing micro-grants financing tower gardens to individuals, we can reduce the access gap and provide needed healthy food to families and neighborhoods by providing an easy-to-use system that can be used indoor or outdoor. By providing these grants to small businesses, we can provide needed funding to expand existing operations to increase the available food in the region.

Bobby Hanks, a Louisiana rice miller and chair of the USA Rice International Trade Policy Committee, testified before the House Committee on Ways and Means Subcommittee on Trade, at a hearing entitled, Advancing America’s Interest at the World Trade Organization’s (WTO) 13th Ministerial Conference (MC13).  Hanks was one of five witnesses providing feedback to legislators and the only witness strictly representing the interests of agricultural producers.
