The Farmer's Forecast: Rain at Harvest
By Nick Mikulas
It looks like some heavy rain is possible across Louisiana through Friday morning. The severe threat is low, but the chance for an impactful rain, that could keep you from being able to do the work you need to get done is quite likely.
Most of this rain will fall from Wednesday afternoon into Friday. I think by Friday, the heavy rain will be mainly confined to southeast Louisiana, especially southeast of a line from Lafayette to New Roads. When the rain clears the state, I expect totals to range from around an inch in Northwest Louisiana to 1-4 inches in Central Louisiana, and 4-8 inches in south, and southeast Louisiana. It’ll be quite the range from northwest to southeast, and some flooding will be possible, especially south of I-10 an I-12.
Beyond this, I’m watching at least some chance for a tropical system to develop in the southern Gulf of Mexico next week. The signal isn’t overly strong, but there are some indications that slow development will be possible over the Gulf of Mexico next week. I’ll be watching closely, and will update if anything seems like it will impact Louisiana!
