Final Deadline for 2022 ERP is August 14, 2024

USDA-FSA recently announced a final deadline for application to the Emergency Relief Program (ERP) for 2022. This program’s implementation was paused due to pending litigation over the agency’s decisions on how to implement this ad hoc disaster assistance. If you have already applied, previous applications should still be held with FSA waiting final authority to process. However, if you experienced losses for 2022 due to qualifying natural disasters and have not applied, your time to apply will end August 14, 2024. Please see the link for more details.
LFBF continues to advocate for the needs of Louisiana’s farmers and ranchers for losses suffered from 2023, and now 2024 natural disaster events. However, there has not been any action taken or ad hoc appropriation made at this time for these subsequent years. We have heard from many members, lending institution partners, retail suppliers, and others about the financial hardships facing farmers with current market prices, previous disasters, and the inability of Congress to move a Farm Bill so far this year. Please know that your Louisiana Farm Bureau is working to find relief for this building pressure on the farm economy and will continue to do so until measures are taken to support the farming and ranching community. As we continue to press for a Farm Bill in 2024, we encourage you to join us in voicing that need during this August recess where members of Congress will be back in their districts with campaign priorities for their respective parties. The U.S. House Ag Committee has passed a Farm Bill framework that includes many of our priorities. Should LFBF find specific times or ways to exercise that advocacy, we will engage our members every chance we can! Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns related to these topics.
