Louisiana Farm Bureau Supports House Farm Bill
Louisiana Farm Bureau President Jim Harper issued the following statement in support of the proposed 2024 Farm Bill presented by House Agriculture Committee Chairman Glenn “GT” Thompson of Pennsylvania.
“The Farm Bill proposed by the House Ag Committee contains provisions that will be good for Louisiana’s farmers and ranchers. Farming is a risky business. Changes in weather and markets can make or break any year. Input costs have risen with inflation and the margins by which our farmers and ranchers make a living are razor thin. Rep. Thompson’s proposed Farm Bill would provide the stability that would ensure Louisiana’s farmers could secure crop loans and keep farming year after year. I hope and pray that we can get bipartisan support for the House Farm Bill as proposed and we get a Farm Bill passed this year.”
