Louisiana FFA Hosts 2023 Capitol Day
The Louisiana FFA 2023 Capitol Day, presented by iCEV, will be held on May 4th, 2023. The event will welcome over 200 FFA members, supporters, and guests to the Louisiana State Capitol to advocate for agricultural education and learn more about the legislative process.
In 1928, E.M. Tiffany wrote the FFA Creed, which concludes, “I can exert an influence in my home and community which will stand solid for my part in that inspiring task.” The Louisiana FFA plans to do just that during their annual day at the Capitol. Their signature blue corduroy jackets will fill halls, committee rooms, and balconies in order to execute their role as the future of Louisiana agriculture.
Guests will have the opportunity to sit in on committee meetings and hear a keynote from Commissioner of Agriculture, Dr. Mike Strain during a luncheon held on Capitol Grounds. Special guests also include House Speaker Clay Schexnayder, Superintendent of Education Cade Brumley, and new LSU VP of Agriculture Matt Lee. The day will conclude with both House and Senate recognition of Louisiana FFA for its support of Agricultural Education.
The event is made possible by iCEV, which provides curriculum, instructional materials, and certification testing for students and teachers in Career and Technical Education (CTE). iCEV supports thousands of students in FFA programs across the state.
“We are excited to host the Louisiana FFA Day at the Capitol and recognize the hard work and dedication of the FFA members and supporters,” said iCEV CEO, Dusty Moore. “We are proud to be a part of this event and look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on the future of Agricultural Education in Louisiana.”
FFA is a dynamic, intracurricular, student-led organization for young men and women enrolled in agricultural education courses in middle and high schools. Through participation in FFA, members practice skills in animal and plant sciences, mechanics, business, environmental conservation, and leadership. The Louisiana FFA Association is made up of nearly 13,000 members in 212 programs across the state.
