On Wednesday, Congressman Mike Johnson (R-LA) was elected as the 56th Speaker of the United States House of Representatives.
The fourth-term congressman from Shreveport has been serving as the vice chair of the House Republican Conference since January 2021 prior to ascending the highest post in the House.
