Vilsack to Travel to Louisiana, Highlight Biden-Harris Administration Efforts to Expand Opportunities for U.S. Ag Exports
On Thursday, March 10 and Friday, March 11, U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack will travel to New Orleans, Louisiana for a series of events underscoring the Biden-Harris Administration’s efforts to expand opportunities for U.S. agricultural exports.
On March 10, Secretary Vilsack will visit a grain export elevator owned by Cargill. Under the Biden-Harris Administration, U.S. agricultural exports posted the highest annual export level ever recorded, with U.S. farm and food products to the world totaling $177 billion – topping the 2020 total by 18 percent. Secretary Vilsack will highlight the remarkable resilience and success of American agriculture as it continues to provide high-quality, cost-competitive farm and food products to customers around the globe. He will also discuss USDA’s work under the Biden-Harris Administration to address agricultural supply chain issues and expand opportunities for agricultural exports by knocking down trade barriers and partnering with industry on marketing and promotion efforts worldwide.
On March 11, Secretary Tom Vilsack will attend and deliver the keynote address at the 2022 Commodity Classic in New Orleans. During his remarks, Secretary Vilsack will highlight the Biden-Harris Administration's work to grow the rural economy from the bottom up and middle out, create more, new and better markets, enhance competition and capacity, boost exports performance, and grow new revenue streams through climate programs.
