Louisiana FFA Members Receive New FFA Jackets through the Margaret Mayeux Blue Jacket Program
Louisiana FFA members around the state are receiving some special deliveries this month. Since 2014, Mr. Kipp and Dr. Jennalyn Mayeux, son and daughter-in-law of the late Dr. Ronald and Mrs. Margaret Mayeux, have generously provided funding for over 20 new FFA jackets each year.
The program is named in honor of Mrs. Mayeux who led a life of service and greatly supported FFA members throughout her life. Dr. Mayeux served as an ag teacher and FFA advisor at Hessmer High School, superintendent of the Avoyelles Parish School System, and as State FFA Executive Secretary.
Kipp Mayeux says, “We are grateful for the opportunity to enhance the FFA experience for each Margaret Mayeux Blue Jacket award winner. The leadership team of Louisiana FFA continues to excel in assisting us with honoring the memory of our mom, while making a meaningful impact for deserving members.”
FFA members who do not own a jacket can complete an essay describing what the FFA means to them and how owning a corduroy jacket would help them continue being an active FFA member. The applications are then reviewed by the Mayeux family, and State FFA Officers personally deliver the jackets to members at their schools.
