Agriculture Internship Provides Hands-On Experience

McNeese University

William Vanderlick, a junior agribusiness student, is gaining hands-on experience in the poultry industry as an intern at Cal-Maine Foods in Pittsburgh, Texas. William is learning about the shipping processes of eggs to markets and caring for young chicks.

His internship is a result of an interview at the International Production & Processing Expo, which he attended with other McNeese agricultural sciences students in January. Networking at the conference exposed him to a variety of career opportunities.

The College of Agricultural Sciences offers three working farms that provide real-life experiences for its agricultural sciences majors. William says that working on the McNeese farm has helped prepare him for his internship.
