Louisiana Field Reports: Producers Prepare for Rice, Corn Harvest
“Rice and corn producers prepared for harvesting. Sugarcane producers were ready to plant as soon as field conditions dry out some. Livestock producers have abundant forages this year, but second and third Hay cuttings sit in the field losing quality due to wet conditions. Commercial and home vegetable growers were between seasons as they gave up on spring plantings. There were many acres of soybeans doing really well with moderate to low disease pressure but rains of Hurricane Barry damaged many acres as well.”
