Northeast Louisiana Rice & Soybean Tour Tuesday
The LSU AgCenter’s Northeast Research Station will host a Row Rice and Soybean Tour on Tuesday, July 9, 2019. The event will begin at 4:30 pm with registration and a self-guided tour of the station projects. The program will begin at 5:30 pm in the Row Rice Field with talks on varieties, disease, insects and weed control.
The Tour will continue with a farmer panel and their experiences with producing row rice holding/not holding tailwater. The last part of the row rice section will showcase Nitrogen management comparing standard application practices to the application of Nitrogen in the irrigation water and monitoring of the runoff.
The soybean part of the tour will focus on new soybean technologies and using soybean rotation to help row rice weed control. A Corn Crop Update and Cover Crops for post-harvest in corn will be displayed with opportunities to talk to scientists about the benefits of this practice. The meeting will conclude with supper.
