Tropical Storm Barry: 'This is Going to Be a Major Weather Event,' Louisiana Governor Says

BATON ROUGE — Gov. John Bel Edwards said new forecasts for Tropical Storm Barry predict it won't top the Mississippi River levees in New Orleans, but more than a foot of rain will be dumped along some coastal areas that will likely lead to flooding. "This is going to be a major weather event for Louisiana," Edwards said during a press conference Thursday following a meeting of his unified command team.
