USDA Releases Louisiana Acreage Report

According to the latest information from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, corn planted area for all purpose in Louisiana is estimated at 570,000 acres, up 110,000 from a year ago and up 20,000 acres from March planting intentions.

Upland cotton planted acres is estimated at 260,000, up 65,000 from a year ago but unchanged from March planting intentions.

Soybean planted area is estimated at 1.05 million acres, down 290,000 acres from a year ago and down 80,000 acres fro March planting intentions.

All rice planted area for 2019 is estimated at 420,000 acres, down 20,000 from a year ago but up 20,000 acres from March planting intentions. Breakout is 380,000 acres for long grain and 40,000 acres for medium grain.

Sugarcane for sugar and seed harvested acres is estimated 475,000 acres, up 26,500 acres from a year ago.

All hay expected to be harvested is estimated at 390,000 acres, up 10,000 acres from a year ago but down 30,000 acres form March intentions.
