All About Honey Bees Workshop Set for June 13 in Farmerville

FARMERVILLE – A free All About Honey Bees Workshop will be offered on June 13, 2019, at the LSU AgCenter in Farmerville, Louisiana, to provide potential beekeepers the basics of getting started with honey bees and managing a new colony.  This workshop is hosted by USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, LSU AgCenter, and Trailblazer RC&D.

Featured topics include basics of working with bees, equipment needs, tools and protective gear, and available financial/technical assistance.  Special guest speaker is Amy Weeks, Master Craftsman Beekeeper at My Favorite Honey in West Monroe, Louisiana.  Weeks has served as past president of Hill Country Beekeepers, on the board of directors of the Louisiana Beekeepers Association, as a member of the American Apitherapy Society, and as a member of Monroe’s Herb Society.
