Miss. River Rising Fast; Corps Will Open Bonnet Carre Spillway

The Mississippi River will blow through previous crest forecasts through all points in Louisiana, prompting the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to open the Bonnet Carre Spillway Wednesday to relieve pressure and protect New Orleans. Commanding Col. Michael N. Clancy announced plans to open the spillway at 10 a.m. Wednesday during a Tuesday press conference in New Orleans.
