Louisiana Ag Committees Meet Thursday

The House and Senate Agriculture Committees will hold a joint session at the capitol Thursday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. in House Committee Room 6 at the State Capitol.

Louisiana Commissioner of Agriculture And Forestry Dr. Mike Strain say he will be asking the committees to approve plans for growing hemp in the state as required by state law.

Strain says he is also awaiting approval from the U.S. Department of Agriculture on the same plan. The Commissioner is hoping that approval comes down soon so his office can start moving forward with licensing farmers, processors and transporters for next years growing season.
