Your Timber and Your Taxes Workshop Set for Nov. 7 in Jonesboro

JONESBORO – A free Your Timber and Your Taxes workshop will be offered on November 7, 2019, at the Dr. Charles H. Garrett Community Center in Jonesboro, Louisiana. Attorney Paul Spillers will provide valuable information on tax changes for timberland owners, IRS categories for timber ownership, return preparation, and key tax issues.  Professional conservationists with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) will discuss how to care for your land’s natural resources to ensure your timber is sustainable for future generations.

Mr. Spillers is senior counsel at the Law Offices of Theus, Grisham, Davis & Leigh in Monroe, Louisiana.  He specializes in estate planning and probate; litigation; oil, gas, and mineral law; taxation, and timber law.  NRCS works in close partnership with farmers, ranchers, local and state governments, and other federal agencies to maintain healthy and productive working landscapes and provide America’s farmers and ranchers with financial and technical assistance to voluntarily put conservation on the ground.

The Your Timber and Your Taxes workshop will begin at 6:00 p.m. on November 7, 2019, at the Dr. Charles H. Garrett Community Center, 182 Industrial Drive, in Jonesboro, Louisiana, and conclude at 7:30 p.m.  To register to attend, call Trailblazer RC&D at (318) 255-3554 or email ceo@trailblazer.org and provide your name and contact information as well as the name of the workshop.  Persons with disabilities who anticipate needing reasonable accommodations or who have questions about physical access should contact Trailblazer RC&D at (318) 255-3554 or ceo@trailblazer.org prior to the workshop.
