Louisiana Crop Progress & Condition Report

According to the National  Agricultural Statistics Service, therer were 6.3 days suitable for fieldwork across Louisiana for the week ending August 5th.

Topsoil moisture suppleis were rated mostly short to adequite while subsoil moisture supples were rataed mostly short to adequate as well.

77% of the states corn crop was matured with 11%  harvested.  Corn is now rated at 11% poort, 37% fair, 44% good and 8% excellent.

99% of the cotton crop was setting bolls with 17% of those now open.  The crop was rated at 2% poor, 53% fair, 40% good and 5% excellent.

32% of the Louisiana rice crop has now been harvested and is rated at 6% poor, 27% fair, 61% good and 6% excellent.

The soybean crop is rated 1% very poor, 10% poor, 37% fair, 41% good  and 11% excellent. 99% of the crop was setting pods, 21% turning color and 12% dropping leaves.

5% of the next sugarcane crop was planted as of last Sunday.   It's rated at 6% poor, 38% fair, 43% good and 13% excellent.
