Louisiana Beef Producers Tour Arkansas
The Louisiana Farm Bureau's livestock committee toured Tyson Foods in Springdale, Arkansas.
Many businesses follow a concept called "best practices." Usually, that means to look at what others in your industry are doing better than you, and then adopt those practices to improve your business.
A group of Louisiana cattlemen is on a "best practices" bus tour this week, touring cattle operations throughout the state of Arkansas with the hope of bringing back fresh ideas to improve their farms and ranches.
The Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation's livestock advisory committee is sponsoring the tour which started Wednesday and runs through Sunday.
“We want to go to where our folks can have a hands-on experience and we try to go to operations where they can obtain information," said Farm Bureau's Commodity Director Ron Harrel. "Either the purchase of genetics to bring back to improve their herds, or as I mentioned earlier, the production practices that some of these producers are using that they may not be using here in Louisiana."
This is the fourth year that Farm Bureau has sponsored the annual trip. Previous trips included tours of ranches across Texas and Mississippi.
