Cropsmith in Running for Tulane's $1 Million Prize

Tim Smith was ahead of the curve when he quit his crop science job at the University of Illinois in 2005 and started his own business to advise farmers on more efficient nitrogen application. Cropsmith also finds itself as a finalist in the Tulane University Nitrogen Reduction Challenge, which is seeking innovative ideas to battle dead zones such as the one that kills wildlife in the Gulf of Mexico.
