Breakthrough in Research Could Mean Tests, Vaccine for Dangerous Diseases

BATON ROUGE, La. — A major door has been opened to researchers involved in work on chronic wasting disease, mad cow disease and Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease. LSU AgCenter animal scientist Frank Bastian has developed a way to grow the bacteria that cause these diseases and make it possible to develop tests and vaccines for them.
