Central Louisiana Farmer Named to Water Resources Commission

Central Louisiana farmer Jim Harper was named to the Louisiana Water Resources Commission.

Gov. John Bel Edwards announced this week the appointment of Jim T. Harper, of Cheneyville, to the Water Resources Commission. Harper is a farmer and the owner of HE Harper Farms. As required by statute, he was nominated by the Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation. 

The Water Resources Commission is responsible for working with the Commissioner of Conservation to prevent waste of groundwater resources and to prevent or alleviate damaging or potentially damaging subsidence of the land surface caused by the withdrawal of groundwater.
