Grain Promotion Board Annual Review Meeting This Month
The Louisiana Soybean and Grain Research and Promotion Board will hold its annual November project review meeting November 16th and 17th at Efferson Hall on the LSU Baton Rouge campus.
Charles Canatella from St. Landry Parish, board chairman, says they would love to have consultants and growers that “have a problems in soybean fields to come to the meeting and explain the problems they’re having to the board and the LSU staff so we can try to get some research started to correct those problems.”
Canatella also pointed out the research funded by the board has definitely been vital to the Louisiana soybean industry.
“When you look at the soybean industry and Louisiana in particular, being in the southern US where we get so much rain that we have a lot of insect pressure. And when you look at the soybean industry across the whole country, we do have problems other states don’t have,” said Canatella.
The mid-west for example, “where they don’t get the rain issues and storm issues and insect issues we have, so we do quite a lot of research in all of those areas trying to alleviate the problems for our local growers.”
