- What helped this season?: Rainfall.
- Do differently next year?: Nothing.
- How are other crops turning out?: Good to fair.
Louisiana, Tensas, Richland, West Carroll, Private Consultant:
Date of report: 10/27/2016
- Percent picked: 85%
- Average yield: 1,250 lbs/acre
- What helped this season?: Excellent harvest weather in September and October.
- What hurt this season?: Lack of sunshine in August.
- Do differently next year?: Increase Pix usage, plant fuller season varieties.
- How are other crops turning out?: Corn was fair, early soybeans were good, while May-planted beans were average.
Louisiana, Caddo Parish, Grower and Partner in a gin:

- Average yield: 900 lbs/acre
- What helped this season?: Yields are down 450 lbs/acre.
- What hurt this season?: Heavy rains in August.
- Do differently next year?: It depends on the market.
- How are other crops turning out?: Corn was fair, beans were short 10 to 12 bu/acre.
Louisiana, Catahoula, Concordia, Franklin and Tensas Parishes, Private Consultant:

- What helped this season?: Low insect pressure.
- What hurt this season?: Excessive rain in late July and August.
- Do differently next year?: Cotton acres will increase.
- How are other crops turning out?: Soybeans are excellent. Rice is average. Corn is average.
Louisiana, Tensas Parish, Grower and Private Consultant:

- Average yield: 1,100 lbs/acre
- What helped this season?: Favorable early season conditions, timely rainfall, moderate mid-late season temperatures. Also, light spider mite pressure.
- What hurt this season?: Relatively expensive plant bug control pressure. Also, late-season rains with boll rot and loss of top crop.
- Do differently next year?: None planned to date.
- How are other crops turning out?: Corn yields were good. Soybeans and milo have been fair to good.
