A Note from a Japanese Street Corner

LSU Ag Leadership Class XVI
I decided to venture out on my own this morning. I didn’t want to leave Tokyo without being able to say I tried the Japanese Burger King. I made my way into the fast food chain, and ordered my meal. Thankfully, the cashier spoke English, so the transaction went pretty smoothly. I sat down at a bar next to a window overlooking a busy street. As I sit here and enjoy my little taste of home, I’m thinking about how lucky of a man I am. I am currently sitting on the opposite side of the world studying agriculture abroad. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that the hobby that began so many years ago would bring me here. I’m so thankful to have a wonderful wife to take care of my family while I am away. I’m thankful for great employees to look after my business in my absence. I’m extremely thankful for LSU, Farm Bureau, and the many people who inspired me and helped me become a student in this Ag Leadership Program. Above all, I’m thankful that God has found it fit to bless me with my current position in life. It’s a bittersweet moment. I’ve been looking forward to this trip for over two years now; however, now that it’s here, I realize that this is the grand finale of the program, and our time with Class XVI is nearing the end. Unfortunately, you can’t stop time, and we all have to keep moving forward, even when we wish it would stand still. So for now, I’ll sit back, relax, and enjoy he moment.
