Monday Evening:

A modest warming trend has begun this afternoon (Monday, Feb 2). 3:00 PM temperatures were in the 60°s for most of the state with southeastern coastal parishes in the upper 50°s to around 60° under sunshine.

Lows for Tuesday morning (Feb 3) will be in the mid to upper 40°s statewide with afternoon highs in the 60°s. However, rain begins to move into Louisiana on Tuesday ahead of the next cold front. That front is expected to cross the state between Tuesday and early Wednesday morning (Feb 4). Fortunately, severe stoms are not expected and the NWS Weather Prediction Center (WPC) is posting rain amounts over the two-day period at less than 1.0" statewide.

The air mass behind that mid-week front will not be nearly as cold as the last two Arctic frontal passages. However, most northern and central parishes should plan for a brief freeze on Thursday morning (Feb 5). That looks like the only freeze expected over the next 7 to 10 days.

High temperatures will get into the 50°s statewide for Wednesday and Thursday. The weather stays mild and dry for clean-up and debris pick-up efforts this Friday (Feb 6) and the upcoming weekend (Feb 7 & 8) with highs in the upper 60°s to around 70° statewide under fair to partly cloudy skies.

Monday Morning:

Another cold start for today (Monday, Feb 2, Groundhog Day) with just about all of Louisiana experiencing a morning freeze. But a significant warm-up kicks-in with Monday afternoon highs expected to reach the 60°s for most parishes. Lows for Tuesday morning (Feb 3) will be in the 40°s statewide with Tuesday highs returning to the 60°s around the state once again.

Louisiana's next cold front moves across the state between Tuesday and Wednesday (Feb 4). The front will bring rain and a few t-storms but severe weather is not expected. The NWS Weather Prediction Center (WPC) has forecasted rain amounts over the two days at less than 1.0" statewide.
